About Us

Our Mission

The Vegan Patty Lady exists to make authentic Jamaican plant-based food accessible, affordable, and culturally resonant for everyone โ€” from dedicated vegans to flexitarians, from allergen-sensitive individuals to communities who have never seen their food culture represented in the plant-based sector. We reduce the environmental impact of traditional Caribbean cuisine while keeping the flavour, heritage, and joy fully intact.

1

Social & Environmental Responsibility

The Vegan Patty Lady operates as a responsible business that considers its environmental and social impact in every decision โ€” from ingredient sourcing and packaging choices to pricing strategy and community engagement. This commitment has been in place since incorporation in August 2023.

  • โœ“100% plant-based product range by design
  • โœ“Eco-friendly packaging sourced from UK suppliers
  • โœ“Pricing strategy designed to maintain accessibility
  • โœ“Publicly communicated via theveganpattylady.co.uk and Elite Business Magazine (Feb 2025)
2

Positive Environmental Impact

Our core environmental commitment is to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions, land use, and resource consumption associated with traditional Caribbean meat products. Each patty saves approximately 2.8 kg COโ‚‚e compared to an equivalent beef Jamaican patty (Poore & Nemecek, 2018).

  • โœ“Plant-based ingredients produce ~90% fewer GHG emissions per kg than beef
  • โœ“FY2025 estimated carbon saving: 5,500โ€“33,000 kg COโ‚‚e
  • โœ“Eco packaging from Kite Packaging (Coventry) โ€” recyclable materials
  • โœ“SALSA-accredited production โ€” quality and resource standards maintained
3

Positive Social Impact

We're committed to making plant-based food accessible to communities currently underserved by mainstream vegan brands โ€” particularly Black, Caribbean, and diaspora communities, and allergen-sensitive consumers with few suitable options.

  • โœ“UK's only gluten-free Jamaican patty range
  • โœ“Community pop-ups and market presence across South East London
  • โœ“Patty Postcode Race: 1,060 postcodes registered
  • โœ“Ocado listing (FY2025) extends national accessibility
  • โœ“Partnerships with Healthy Living Bus and Lewisham Council
4

Our Beneficiary Communities

We serve three primary groups: Black, Caribbean, and diaspora communities seeking authentic cultural food in plant-based form; people with dietary restrictions excluded from most Caribbean food options; and health-conscious consumers reducing meat without compromising on flavour.

  • โœ“Caribbean and diaspora communities โ€” authentic Jamaican flavour, plant-based
  • โœ“Gluten-free consumers โ€” only UK patty brand with certified GF range
  • โœ“Allergen-aware consumers โ€” dairy-free, egg-free formulations
  • โœ“Flexitarians and meat-reducers
  • โœ“Price-sensitive communities โ€” accessible pricing and bulk options
